Upper East Side Townhouse

In this elegant 1905 townhouse, we united 3 separate floors to create one majestic residence. In keeping with the Beaux Arts style, we created unique spaces: a refined staircase, an inviting & high tech projection room and a chic wine cellar in the basement. We also incorporated a new HVAC system, updated the lighting and audio/visual systems throughout the house, in order to create a seamless blend of traditional and contemporary design. Leather floors, custom plaster work and scrupulous architectural details result in a harmonious environment, a polished ensemble only reinforced by the art collection.

Ladies Mile Residence

Combining two apartments in an early 20th century department store-turned condo, we unified the existing spaces to create an appealing flow and a new dialogue between the rooms. We conceived a dramatic entry to set a distinctive tone for this residence. The entry opens into an expansive living area, which balances a large bay window with the clients’ striking collection of Indonesian art. The bathrooms and kitchen express sophisticated simplicity, with elegant materials and neutral colors. With sensitivity to its location in the heart of the city, we have created an oasis that is both calm and luxurious.

West 22nd Street Residence

We created distinct spaces for an artist’s studio and living area within this Chelsea loft. With clean lines, gallery lighting, and hidden doors and hardware, the apartment becomes a serene backdrop for the clients’ art and mineral collections. Innovative fenestration brings natural light into all areas of this residence. The elegant and contemporary bathrooms and cook’s kitchen reinforce the overall coherence of this home, without sacrificing practicality.

Upper West Side High-Rise Apartment

This 1970s high-rise apartment has been brought up to date in a minimalist style for a couple and their young daughter. The fumed oak floors provide an interesting contrast to the off-white walls and millwork. The major objectives of this renovation were to open up and expand the kitchen as well as the bathroom. The existing space within the bedroom closet and bathroom was reconfigured to enlarge the bathroom while keeping the same amount of closet space in the bedroom. Custom built-ins were done throughout the apartment to utilize every inch of storage space. Innovative elements such as flat tile LED-ceiling fixtures and a wall-mounted toilet tank were used for both aesthetics and functionality. Details such as creating a reveal vs. baseboards, SOSS hinges, and backlit marble in the bathroom all add to the overall appeal.

Three Italian Residences

When I was living in Italy I had the good fortune to be involved with some renovation projects in Milan, Venice and the Chianti region outside of Florence. These photos, which are part of a service by AD Italia, show a few of the rooms and the exterior of the Florentine villa--which was once an orphanage. The challenge was to retain the rustic character of the place while making it comfortable and welcoming to a large, busy family. The venetian apartment is part of one of the four Mocenigo palaces on the Grand Canal. It provided a unique opportunity to work with local craftsmen, especially the terrazzo flooring which is a specialty of Venice. Milan is a charming city, filled with rather austere, Hapsburgian buildings with beautiful, hidden courtyards. This small apartment, built under the eaves of a 19th century apartment house, reflects the private, cosy nature of its inhabitants.

Upper West Side Townhouse

This noble family townhouse had undergone a complete renovation in the 90's, which left none of its original details. It is our ambition to reinterpret the aesthetic of a bygone era while at the same time providing all the conveniences required for an active and modern family. The street facade will be restored to its classic splendor, while the garden side will be completely remodeled using glass and steel to allow for more light and to incorporate a contemporary look & feel. We will also take advantage of and intuitively rethink the green spaces, thus extending the living environment into the outdoors on all levels. The addition of a fifth floor gym gives us the opportunity to capitalize on the usable outdoor green space of the roof level, which will include a small amphitheater and a feature wall for projecting movies. As part of the strategic space planning and design, all the family's needs will be accommodated, including 7 bathrooms, 2 kitchens, separate dressing rooms and walk-in closets for all family members. Since this project is still in process we are presenting 3D renderings. The 3D renderings of the green spaces have been conceived by our partner Christian Duvernois Gardens Inc.

Upper West Side Pre-War Apartment

In this total renovation project we put a particular focus on the redesign of the kitchen, the two bathrooms, and the reconfiguration of all the spaces for optimal usage and better overall flow. The highlight of the renovation of this Upper West Side pre-war apartment was the unique solution of providing access to the shower from both the Master Bath and the Guest Bath. By reconfiguring a hallway and Master Bedroom closets, we were able to create a new walk-in closet within the new Master Bath. Antiquated moldings were removed and replaced for a cleaner look. The existing floors were refinished and the apartment was painted in soothing earth tones to highlight the client's art collection.
